What We’re Doing In The Community

The American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The organization is second only to the federal government in funding cardiovascular research, and with heart disease claiming the lives of 647,000 annually, it is now more important than ever to support the organization’s efforts through programming like the Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards. “Bear” always talked about being bigger than something other than himself. The Bryant Awards offer an opportunity to do just that – to be a part of team Bryant in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Through collaboration with corporate sponsors, the American Heart Association places Youth and Sports CPR kits in school districts across the country. These kits provide training materials to coaches, teachers, and students on the life-saving skill of Hands-Only CPR.

Open Your Heart

Every year, the Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards recognize a stand-out survivor or survivor’s family to be honored as our “Open Your Heart” story at the event. We ask guests to “Open Your Heart” to give in honor of the inspiring individuals which in turn will aid the American Heart Association in continuing our fight against heart disease and hypertension. Please see the video below for our 2023 Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards “Open Your Heart” story.
