HOUSTON, Sept. 4, 2026 – Scott Evans, a longtime architecture and construction industry leader and dedicated volunteer with the Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards, will serve as co-chair of the 2027 Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards, the American Heart Association’s premier college football coaching honors event celebrating leadership on and off the field while raising lifesaving funds to fight heart disease and stroke.
The American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, presents the Bear Bryant Awards annually to celebrate excellence in coaching, honor coach Bryant’s legacy and raise awareness and critical funds for its mission. The coaching legend died from a heart attack in 1983, just 28 days after his final victory and retirement.
The Bryant Awards annually honor the nation’s top college football coaches while raising awareness and critical funding for the American Heart Association. Established in 1986 and named for legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, the awards celebrate the leadership, integrity and perseverance that define the sport’s most impactful coaches while supporting lifesaving research and education programs.
Evans brings decades of leadership in architecture, construction and business development to the role, along with more than a decade of service to the Bryant Awards. A longtime member of the event’s leadership team, Evans has supported the Awards since 2012, helping advance its mission and strengthen its presence in the Houston community.
“Scott has played a key role in the leadership of the Bryant Awards for nearly fifteen years,” said Steven Embree, executive director of the Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards. “He has consistently given back and his dedicated leadership illustrates his commitment to the American Heart Association’s mission to save and improve lives.”
Evans’ professional career spans more than three decades in architecture, construction management and business development. A graduate of Iowa State University, he spent more than 20 years practicing commercial architecture before expanding his career into construction and client development. His experience has included leadership roles with Morris Architects, Kirksey Architecture and Southern Land Company before joining Hoar Construction.
At Hoar Construction, Evans has served in senior program management and business development roles, drawing on his background in design, sustainability and construction to develop client relationships and support projects throughout Houston and the surrounding region. His professional credentials include membership in the American Institute of Architects, certification through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and LEED AP BD+C accreditation.
That combination of professional leadership and community service has been reflected in Evans’ longstanding involvement with the Bryant Awards. Since joining the event leadership team in 2012, he has helped support an event that brings together leaders from college football, business and the Houston community in support of the American Heart Association.
As co-chair, Evans will help lead the 2027 Bryant Awards alongside co-chair Justin Boeving, partner at Socium Advisors and president of Socium Sport. Together, they will support fundraising, community engagement and continued growth of the Bryant Awards and its mission to honor excellence in college football while advancing the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.
